Sunderland vs Fulham Match Preview
Sunderland’s poor form has them just three points above the relegation zone. Their last outing against this weekend’s opponents, Fulham, was a 1-0 loss at Craven Cottage. The Black Cats’ last league win was a 1-0 victory over Arsenal at the Stadium of Light in November. Since then they have gone 13 league games without a win. They come into the match against Fulham with injuries to midfielders Andy Reid and Jordan Henderson, and a suspension to midfielder David Meyler.
Fulham’s European tour continued on Thursday with a 1-1 draw against Ukranian outfit Shakhtar Donetsk that gave the Cottagers a 3-2 aggregate victory over the two legs. They’re still in the FA Cup too, having progressed to the Quarter Finals with a 4-0 victory over Notts County 10 days ago. And they beat Birmingham 2-1 at Craven Cottage over the weekend. Fulham are on a good run of seven games undefeated including 5 wins in all competitions. Striker Bobby Zamora is playing well and scoring goals and his name is being associated with the possibility of an England call up. The cottagers go into the weekend’s match against Sunderland, however, with a suspension to defender Nicky Shorey and injuries to Paul Konchesky, John Paintsil, Clint Dempsey and Andy Johnson.
