Liverpool vs Blackburn Rovers Match Preview
Liverpool’s 0-0 draw away against Manchester City was undoubtedly a big disappointment to scousers in red but some solace can be drawn from the fact that Fernando Torres returned to the side and came into the match as a sub. With Yossi Benayoun also returned from injury the Reds can now field a full first team squad again. They host Blackburn Rovers at Anfield on Sunday. A win over Blackburn combined with complimentary results in matches elsewhere could see them return to fourth place.
Blackburn beat Lancashire rivals Bolton 3-0 at Ewood Park at the weekend, their fourth consecutive win at home. Goal scorer Jason Roberts afterward said the club was aiming for European competition. At 34 points, and sitting in the 12th spot in the table they have a long way to go. This weekend’s opponents, Liverpool, will be unlikely to show sympathy since they are vying for a European spot of their own.
