Bolton vs Wolverhampton Wanderers Match Preview
Bolton’s FA Cup hopes were crushed midweek by Tottenham in their FA Cup 5th Round replay at White Hart Lane. The good news? Bolton scored two goals. The bad news? Both goals were against themselves. Spurs striker Roman Pavlyuchenko got the other two in the 4-0 thumping at White Hart Lane. This brings the Trotters’ winless streak to seven on the trot. Their last win was a month ago at home to Burnley. Owen Coyle’s side had the benefit of bringing Arsenal starlet Jack Wilshere to the Reebok stadium on loan and although the youngster has played well since he arrived in January, Bolton still live a precarious existence in the relegation zone. They’ll see the match against Wolves as a key opportunity to escape the drop, but they’ll need the likes of Kevin Davies, Ivan Klasnic and Johan Elmander to show some effect up front.
Wolves lost 0-2 to Chelsea at the weekend but somehow they keep their heads above relegation zone water. While the Wolves defense was unable to prevent Chelsea’s Didier Drogba from scoring both Chelsea goals, equally they were unable to provide lone striker Kevin Doyle with the support he needed to make a difference at the other end. It’s a mere point that buoys Wolves above the drop, and with this weekend’s opponents Bolton at 23, Saturday’s clash of Wanderers is a fight for Premier League survival.
