Despite a pitch in perfect playing condition, Wigan\'s Monday match against local rivals Bolton had to be postponed due to weather conditions that made travel into the DW Stadium too dangerous for supporters. The big freeze continues but rather than postpone a second consecutive match Wigan are concentrating on making the approaches to the stadium safe. Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has expressed concern over the 10-day match layoff for his players. He\'ll be hoping the Blackburn game on Boxing Day provides his men the tune-up they\'ll surely need when they visit Old Trafford to play Manchester United on Wednesday.
Three draws and three losses in the last six matches will put the pressure on Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce to bring home some points from the Christmas week fixtures. Away to Wigan on Saturday and then home to Sunderland on Monday will test Blackburn\'s ability to stay above the relegation zone in the new year. Big Sam may not be a big fan of striker Benni McCarthy, and midfielder Morten Gamst Pederson may be looking for a new gig at Celtic in January, but for now Allardyce will be relying on them to bring home results.
