Despite having defeated both Liverpool and Arsenal this season, Sunderland manager Steve Bruce cannot be comfortable with his team\'s performance. With just one win in six matches, and no wins in the last six away matches, the Black Cats need results at home against Everton on Boxing Day and away to Blackburn Rovers on Monday. But they suffered a defensive setback last week in the 4-3 loss to Manchester City when center back Michael Turner was red-carded for an elbow on Gareth Barry. A three match ban was handed down but it quickly got extended after Sunderland\'s appeal was turned down and cited as frivolous. Turner is now out for four games.
Despite only one win in 11 matches, Everton manager David Moyes has reason to be a little optimistic. His team dominated Birmingham in the 1-1 draw last week, and he can look forward to January when he gets American International Landon Donovan on loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy. Reports suggest Everton may also be looking to bring back Valencia\'s Manuel Fernandes. But with three draws and three losses in their last six matches, and with their last home win in September, Moyes can hardly rest on the potential the January transfer window offers. Everton will be hopeful of a good result away to Sunderland and will be counting on a win at home against Burnley on Monday. Watch Sunderland vs Everton Live on Saturday December 26th, 2009
