Attractive AC Milan to face Catania on Sunday
AC Milan are certainly back to their best! A controversial 3-0 thrashing of Palermo last weekend showcased some excessive beautiful football with Kaka scoring twice from the penalty spot and Inzaghi netting a header in between…
The Rossoneri looked far from impressive in the first part of the Seria A season and AC Milan’s ace Kaka blames it on injury worries.
“Our biggest regrets this season have been the numerous injuries which hit us,” Kaka stated in Milan Channel.
“I’m not talking about myself but of the entire team, because with the entire squad available, this team can obtain really great results.
“It was a nice game [on Sunday], personally I managed to play and enjoy myself. If before this game I had said that I was not yet at 100 per cent, with today’s game I say that I’m getting closer to 100 per cent because every game I play is useful to find the right condition.
“The squad is in a good moment, it’s been a few games that we are playing well. We are improving in an important moment of the season. Now we are concentrated on our objectives."
The Milan club seem to be chasing no trophy this season but Coach Carlo Ancelotti is content with his side’s recent form.
"Inter will win the Scudetto as they are the most consistent team. Our league position reflects the work we have put in, but our season has been conditioned by injuries," the manager avowed this week.
But AC Milan – who have now won six out of their last seven encounters in the Italian Seria A – could create an upset just as Inter Milan are starting to feel the pressure after going down 1-0 at Napoli last Sunday.
However, seven points might seem to be an awful lot in a sense, and with tough games against Juventus, Roma or even Fiorentina coming up in the month of May, there’s an explanation why AC Milan have considered conceding the title to Inter Milan.
However, the Rossoneri enter Sunday’s game away to Catania as hot favourites and yet another victory will only boost their chances of holding on to the second spot for an automatic place in next season’s Champions League group stages.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti boasts of his side’s explosive current form:
"The way we are playing now we could play against anyone in Europe, including the semi-finalists of the Champions League," the manager told Rai.
"It's clear that we've managed to reach this level because we are playing without any commitments during the week. There's a need for consistency and continuity in the long run."
Coach Carlo Ancelotti might have conceded the title to neighbours Internazionale, but perhaps did he mention that too early. With five more games to be played and only seven points separating Inter Milan from AC Milan, can the Scudetto shift to the Red and Black side of the San Siro? What a miracle that would be!
