Sporting Kansas City vs Houston Dynamo Match Preview
Sporting Kansas City and the Houston Dynamo will clash in the Eastern Conference Final at Livestrong Sporting Park on Sunday.
Sporting Kansas City have described themselves as "a hot team" in the MLS playoff race.
“It’s been that hot team in the playoffs that usually makes a good run of it,” midfielder Graham Zusi told the official MLS website. “That’s what we are right now. We’re a hot team, and we’re tough to beat right now.”
Daneil Cyrus and Luke Sassano are ruled out with injury for Kansas City, while Peterson Joseph and Konrad Warzycha are also sidelined.
Mexican striker Omar Bravo is struggling with a groin problem but is listed as probable. “I think he’ll be ready for Sunday,” Sporting manager Peter Vermes told the official MLS website. “I can’t guarantee it, but he has a couple more days now to keep getting treatment and get back.”
Houston advanced to this game by beating the Philadelphia Union 3-1 over two legs.
Dynamo coach Dominic Kinnear has acknowledged the quality of Kansas City, but the veteran coach believes his team have the ability to advance to the MLS Cup Final.
“It’s easier said than done because they’re a good team,” Kinnear told the official MLS website. “But we’re pretty confident how we’re going to approach things.”
Striker Cam Weaver is struggling with a hip injury and will be unable to play for Houston. Veteran forward Brian Ching is expected to partner Calen Carr in the Dyanamo attack. Carr and Chng scored a goal each during the playoff series win over Philadeplhia.
The game will be nationally televised on Fox Soccer Channel at 5:30pm (Eastern Time).
