Cardiff City vs Blackburn Rovers Match Preview

Cardiff City will play host to Blackburn Rovers with a place in the Carling Cup semi-finals at stake on Tuesday.

Cardiff will enter this game riding an unbeaten streak of eight games in all competitions. The Bluebirds are currently third in the Championship league table, and are three points behind the automatic promotion spots.

Blackburn are currently bottom of the league, and have not won since they beat Newcastle United 4-3 in this competition. Rovers manager Steve Kean will be hoping for a win to calm the terraces, the under-fire boss has endured multiple fan protests against his management of the team over the last month.

Mark Hudson and Rudy Gestede are injury doubts for Cardiff and will be assessed ahead of kickoff. Midfielder Don Cowie is expected to feature in the Cardiff midfield, and has scored three goals so far in this competition.

Cardiff will be playing in front of an emotional home crowd, with a tribute to recently deceased Wales national team manager Gary Speed planned to take place ahead of kickoff.

Chris Samba, Martin Olsson and Ryan Nelsen are all sidelined with injury for Blackburn. Spanish defender Michel Salgado has returned to fitness for Rovers, while David Dunn will return from suspension. Ruben Rochina could feature in the Rovers attack, and has scored four goals so far in this competition.
