Genk vs Chelsea Match Preview
Group E leaders Chelsea could qualify for the Champions League knockout stages with a win over Genk.
If Chelsea pick up three points in Belgium, then they will seal qualification for the round of 16 if Bayer Leverkusen win or draw at Valencia.
Genk were beaten 5-0 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge two weeks ago, and will be looking to cause a dramatic reverse of that result here.
Genk may be heartened by the fact that Chelsea themselves conceded five goals in a 5-3 weekend Premier League defeat to Arsenal. “I have positive feelings about tomorrow’s game, I am a coach who always thinks positive but we know we’re playing against great opponents in Chelsea,” Genk boss Mario Been told the official UEFA website.
David Hubert and Jeroen Simaeys are ruled out with injury for Genk, while Daniel Pudil is suspended. Anele Ngongca, Abel Masuero and Marvin Ogunjimi are injury doubts for the Belgian club and will be assessed ahead of kickoff.
Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas is showing maximum respect to Genk and urging his players not to be over-confident after beating the Belgians 5-0 last time out. “For me there are no easy games, especially not in the Champions League,” Villas-Boas told the official UEFA website.
Didier Drogba is sidelined with injury for the Blues, while Brazilian Ramires is expected to play after shaking off a knee injury.
