Spain vs Chile Match Preview
Spain will test their potential against South America’s Chile on Friday night as a host of international friendly matches will take place around the world.
Spain defeated Chile 2-1 they last time they met.
Spain’s last 3 matches have been friendlies only. In June, they trounced the United States 4-0 before beating Venezuela 3-0. Recently, however, they lost 2-1 to Cesare Prandelli’s Italy.
Vicente del Bosque has been tasked to get a better result out of his players this time round. But with the Spanish Primera Division resuming in a bit less than 2 weeks, Spanish stars from Barcelona and Real Madrid might be reluctant to put in a show.
One man who could steal the show is Alexis Sanchez. The new Catalan player is fresh from scoring his first goal for Barca since quitting Udinese. Sanchez has been tipped to inspire Chile to more success in future.
The Chileans held France to a 1-1 draw on August 10 and they’ll be glad to achieve a positive result against reigning world champions Spain.
In some info about Spain’s squad for Friday night’s friendly against Chile, Del Bosque has called up Barcelona B player Martin Montoya whereas Cesc Fabregas has returned to the team.
Gerard Pique and Carles Puyol, meanwhile, are still out due to injury. Sporting Gijon’s Alberto Botia and Atletico Madrid’s Alvaro Dominguez complete the list of Spain’s new faces.
