Sevilla vs Real Madrid Match Preview
The Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan will be used by two wounded clubs – Sevilla and Real Madrid – on Saturday night.

Both Sevilla and Real Madrid will be chasing the three points this weekend.
Real Madrid’s many records related to their long winning streak collapsed all at once under the supremacy of Barcelona last weekend. It’s back to zero for Los Blancos but the situation is not critical. The fight to regain the top spot in La Liga is well in their hands, since newly-appointed league leaders Barca have played one game more.
“There is no inferiority. They have the same amount of points as us, and on Saturday, they can have one or three points fewer,” Mourinho reminded in an encounter with the press last weekend.
Jose Mourinho might not ask for a flurry of goals from his team. Even a 1-0 win would suffice Los Blancos; their sole intention right now is to prove to the world that what happened in El Clasico stays in the past.
In midweek, Real Madrid gained back their confidence with a 2-0 win over Ponferradina in the Spanish Copa del Rey. They are eager to build on that result with another victory on Saturday night.
However, the last time Real Madrid succumbed to defeat in La Liga, they struggled to get back up with immediate effect. As one could remember, Los Blancos played out an uninspiring goalless draw against Racing Santander on September 21 after losing 1-0 to Levante three days earlier.
Sevilla will have the chance to rub salt on Real Madrid’s wounds this weekend. But the hosts will need to overcome their inconsistency problem. Sevilla have won only twice and lost thrice in their last 8 matches in La Liga.
However, their home record is not alarming. It is at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan that they defeated Valencia back in September. In their most recent fixture on home soil, Sevilla triumphed 3-0 over Getafe to end their winless run of 3 matches at that venue.
Like Real Madrid, Sevilla lost last weekend. Which team will get the edge on December 17?
Sevilla vs Real Madrid Match Report
Real Madrid got back to their best on Saturday night, putting their defeat in El Clasico behind. 10-man Los Blancos forced 10-man Sevilla to a 6-2 defeat.

Back to his goal habit: Cristiano Ronaldo hit 3 away to Sevilla tonight.
Following his impotent display against Barcelona at the Bernabeu, Cristiano Ronaldo became the center of attraction ahead of the Sevilla encounter. But the Portuguese number 7 responded to his critics with an energetic performance throughout.
Ronaldo broke the deadlock inside the 10th minute after combining well with assist maker Di Maria. Varas was left with absolutely no chance. A couple of minutes later, Manu went extremely close to leveling the score for Sevilla.
Casillas, however, had the last word. The Spaniard’s acrobatic save denied the hosts from getting a goal. Javi Varas suffered punishment for a second time in the game as Callejon continued his great form by netting a 37th minute strike.
Cristiano Ronaldo reminded the public about his presence on the pitch by bagging a brace 4 minutes before half-time. Ronaldo’s 25-yard shot was simply unstoppable.
Pepe’s 44th minute sending off didn’t prevent Real Madrid from triumphing in Andalusia. The damage was already done. The scoreboard read 3-0 for Mourinho’s men at that moment.
Jesus Navas pulled one back for his team inside the 69th minute after Di Maria had made it 4-0 a few moments earlier. Manu worsened Sevilla’s misery on the night when he received his marching others with a quarter of an hour remaining. The striker was accused of tackling Alvaro Arbeloa from behind.
Controversially, Xabi Alonso didn’t even get booked for a similar foul quickly after. Finally, Cristiano Ronaldo’s chance to clinch a hat-trick occurred in the 85th minute as Benzema won a penalty for Real Madrid through a challenge from Fazio.
Los Blancos’ top scorer didn’t miss his spot kick although Varas came inches away from saving it. Jose Mourinho subsequently replaced Karim Benzema with Hamit Altintop in a substitution which proved to be perfect. Altintop scored his debut goal for Real Madrid in simple fashion.
Negredo scored Sevilla’s second goal of the match in injury time to end this wonderful 8-goal contest at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium.
