Tottenham Hotspur vs Sunderland Match Preview
Tottenham Hotspur can move back up to third place in the Premier League with a win over Sunderland at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham will enter this game looking for their sixth straight home win.
Sunderland are only one point clear of the relegation zone, and were boosted by a 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers last weekend. The Blackburn win came in the managerial debut of new boss Martin O’Neill, and the Black Cats will be hoping for another positive result here.
Roman Pavlyuchenko (back injury) and Younes Kaboul (suspension) will miss out for Tottenham, while Ledley King is expected to play despite a niggling knee injury.
Nicklas Bendtner has recovered from a groin injury, while Lee Cattermole is available after suspension. However, it is unknown whether O'Neill will discipline the pair after they were arrested on suspicion of criminal damage last week,
Denmark international striker Bendtner spoke out this week apologizing for his part in the incident.
“I fully assume responsibility for not distancing myself from these incidents before they got out of hand,” Bendtner told BBC Sport. “I hope you will understand that I now promise to concentrate fully on football and only football.”
Craig Gardner has recovered from a hamstring injury for Sunderland, and could return to the starting lineup for the Black Cats.
