Manchester United vs Chelsea Match Preview

Manchester United will be defending a 1-0 aggregate lead when they play host to Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League Quarter-Final second leg on Tuesday.

Manchester United registered a 1-0 win in the first leg at Stamford Bridge when Wayne Rooney scored an away goal for the Red Devils. Chelsea will be aggrieved at the late penalty appeal they had turned down and are likely to adopt an attacking approach knowing they must win at Old Trafford to advance.

Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand will return for United after missing the weekend Premier League win over Fulham. Darren Fletcher is sidelined with injury for United, while Brazilian defender Rafael and John O’Shea are doubtful and will be assessed ahead of kickoff.

Yossi Benayoun and Alex could feature for Chelsea after returning from injury in the weekend Premier League win over Wigan Athletic.

KEY PLAYERS

Edwin van der Sar (Manchester United) – The Dutch goalkeeper was outstanding in the first leg and will be an important figure again as Chelsea adopt an attacking approach in the second leg.

Fernando Torres (Chelsea) – If the £50million forward is to ever open his Chelsea account, now is as good a time as any.
