England vs Ghana Match Report
A superb injury time goal by Asamoah Gyan earned Ghana a 1-1 draw against England in an international friendly at Wembley Stadium.

Asamoah Gyan's late goal earned Ghana a 1-1 draw with England at Wembley Stadium.
Liverpool striker Andrew Carroll had given England a first half lead, before Sunderland’s Gyan leveled matters with a fine solo strike in added time.
The game was an entertaining affair and the tone was set early as both teams had early scoring chances. First Dominic Adiyiah was released before being denied by Joe Hart in the England goal, before Ashley Young forced a good save from Richard Kingson.
England then created another chance when Stewart Downing crossed to his Aston Villa teammate Young, but the winger fired against the crossbar when it seemed easier to score. Ghana soon threatened at the other end, and a Sulley Muntari free kick was met by Adiyiah, only for Hart to keep the scores level with an athletic save.
Young and Downing were impressive throughout the first half and were instrumental as England went ahead with only two minutes remaining in the first half. Young’s cross found Downing, and the former Middlesbrough winger’s layoff was fired past Kingson by Carroll for his first England goal.
Ghana pressed forward in the second half and almost leveled twice soon after the intermission. First John Pantsil’s drive was deflected over the bar, and then Jonathan Mensah headed wide from the resulting corner.
Both teams made a number of changes in the second half and Danny Welbeck came on for his England debut, only to be mercilessly booed by Ghana fans. Welbeck opted to play for England despite also being eligible for Ghana.
Ghanaian boo’s would later turn to cheers as Gyan grabbed a dramatic equalizer. The Sunderland striker picked up possession and drove at the England defense, showing quick feet to bamboozle Joleon Lescott and send a neat finish into the far corner for a final 1-1 score line.
