Arsenal vs Leeds United Match Preview

Premier League power Arsenal will face Championship promotion contenders Leeds United in the early kickoff on Saturday.

Arsenal are in good form and riding a four game Premier League unbeaten streak. Arsene Wenger is under pressure for having not lifting a trophy for five years, and this tournament is a chance to end that barren run. Their first obstacle will be Leeds United, who are currently chasing promotion back up to the Premier League.

Leeds will be huge underdogs but have recent history that gives them reason to believe. This time last year Leeds visited Old Trafford in the FA Cup third round, and knocked out Manchester United 1-0 in a huge upset. Leeds will be looking for a similar performance here.

Arsenal will be without suspended defender Bacary Sagna, while goalkeeper is a long term absentee. Arsene Wenger has a reputation for fielding some fringe players in cup competitions, and he will likely rotate his squad after a hectic festive period.

Lloyd Sam and Andy O’Brien are injury doubts for Leeds, while Sanchez Watt suffered a head injury in the midweek defeat at Cardiff and may not be ready to play.
