Blackburn Rovers vs Arsenal Match Report
Theo Walcott continued his fine run of scoring in the 20th minute of Saturday’s match at Ewood Park when he ran onto a pass into space on the right from Robin van Persie and struck a first class right foot shot low and inside Paul Robinson’s far post.
The former—and undoubtedly soon to be again—England international is on fire right now, having scored a hat trick against Blackpool last weekend.
But six minutes later, Blackburn’s on-loan Manchester United man Mame Biram Diouf linked up with namesake El Hadji Diouf to score the equalizer for Blackburn.
Robin van Persie, whom Arsenal fans must have been delighted to see involved from the start of the match, lasted just 35 minutes due to an ankle problem and was replaced by Marouane Chamakh.
Arsenal took the lead again after the break when Bacary Sagna made a determined run down the right in the 51st minute and passed the ball into the middle. Fabregas took the shot but the ball rebounded off a defender and presented itself to Andrei Arshavin who’s right foot effort left Blackburn keeper Paul Robinson with no chance.
Arsenal should have had a third late in the game when a Walcott pass found the feet of sub Jack Wilshere. With only Robinson to beat Wilshere slipped in the act of shooting thus taking the pace off the shot and allowing Robinson to save.
