Olympiacos vs Iraklis Saloniki Match Preview
Olympiakos look to avenge an opening day defeat when they take on Iraklis on Wednesday. The Piraeus club went down 2-1 in a shock defeat to Iraklis in the first match of the season, but since then have gone from strength to strength and have stretched their lead at the top to five points. With January reinforcements having been signed in the form of young Greek full back Giannis Maniatis and Ghanaian midfielder Bennard Kumordzi, Olympiakos appear the odds-on-favorite at this stage to win the title.
Iraklis will travel to Piraeus content with their current league position. Marinos Ouzounidis’ men have done well to remain midtable considering the financial difficulties the club is currently in. Remaining in the top flight will be a big achievement for this side as the club were nearly sent to the 4th division last summer due to their perilous economic circumstances.
