Croatian midfielder Davor Kukec scored the only goal of the match as Panionios picked up their second consecutive victory and downed Iraklis. There was little to speak of in the first half with the only real chance being Sito Riera’s golden opportunity in the 34th minute which saw him flash his volley wide.In the second half both sides improved and pushed forward though clear-cut chances were few and far between. It looked like a match that would be decided by the first goal and thus it was. In the 69th minute, Giannis Kondoes crossed from the left and Kukec placed his header across Dimitris Elefteropoulos into the goal. Iraklis lacked the ability to put lots of pressure on for the goal that would tie the match and Panionios held on for a vital win that may keep them in 15th spot at the moment, but showed they are beginning to find form at a crucial juncture of the season.
