France vs Romania Match Preview
It’s time for France to face undefeated Romania on Saturday night! Fans of Les Bleus can look forward to a tight game.
France aim to defeat Romania this weekend. Les Bleus are yet to reach the top of the table.
“When there is a transitional problem, there is often a generational problem. Here, we’re trying to start again with a new generation of players, with some good players who aren’t yet great players.”
Now although the former World Cup champions are experiencing something new altogether with young talents included in the squad, the ambition of the team and of the fans remain the same: qualifying for Euro 2012 is definitely a must!
As Florent Malouda understands it, there looks to be no time to “waste time” by entertaining weaknesses under Raymond Domenech’s successor.
“After talking with him [the coach], I don’t think Laurent Blanc will be patient. He is asking for quick results to improve and to develop a good atmosphere around Les Bleus,” the current skipper told France Football.
This kind of attitude from the ex-Bordeau manager seems to positively inspire France’s national team. Yes, Les Bleus are apparently improving – not only in terms of performance and team cooperation but also in terms of results. So, France suffered an upset against Belarus but then bounced back against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Now, their goal is to maintain the momentum with another victory – this time, at home to Romania.
Speaking of head-to-head history, both teams have met 13 times in the past with France coming on top of Romania. Results between these two countries reveal that their last three matches all ended in draws whereas Les Bleus have won 4 of their 7 home games against Romania in total. Coach Laurent Blanc’s boys will have to hit “home victory number 5” on Saturday if they want to keep their hopes well alive in the Euro 2012 qualifying campaign.
Meanwhile, like Greece in Group F, Romania are yet to win and yet to lose as well. Two games, two draws; 1-1 and 0-0 against Albania and Belarus respectively. So what will the inclusion of Stefan Radu and Ianis Zicu add to Coach Razvan Lucescu’s squad? The duo hasn’t featured for Romania’s national football team for over two years now.
Well, to beat France will be an ideal way for Saturday’s visitors to boost their spirits, but it would certainly take something special to do so. One player that should pose a big threat to Romania’s defense is Chelsea’s Florent Malouda. The attacker is in great form for the Blues with 6 goals already in the English Premier League.
If Laurent Blanc finds the right formation to connect his players together, expect France to cruise on to a victory at the end of the 90 minutes. But, this is categorically just a supposition. Let’s see what the reality will bring…
