Sporting Braga vs Benfica Match Preview

These two teams produced an epic battle that went to the wire for last year’s Portuguese championship. Benfica eventually came out on top, but not before Braga had inflicted a 2-0 defeat on their rivals from the capital in last season’s corresponding fixture.

Braga are not the same force this year, and were further weakened by the January departures of Matheus, Luis Aguiar and Moises. The fact the last two of those have come courtesy of stoppage time goals shows the side has determination and a will to win to match the superior quality of their players. Porto’s equally outstanding form in the league may ultimately render the run worthless in terms of renewing their title, but the Eagles have promised they will not take their foot off the accelerator while a championship triumph is still mathematically possible.
