Real Sociedad vs Valencia Match Preview
Unai Emery's Valencia visit Anoeta in a game that will have a major impact on La Liga's top fight. Valencia stands at the fifth position with 25 points, only three units above Real Sociedad.
Both Martin Lasarte's Errealas and Emery's Ches play with a similar scheme, relying heavily in the sheer efficiency of their strikers. Aritz Aduriz and Roberto Soldado for Valencia and Joseba Llorente for Real Sociedad are likely to take advantage of any opportunity granted.
It's been 10 years since Real Sociedad lastly celebrated a victory at home against Valencia, though Emery's boys have only obtained one point in their last four matches away.
Xabi Prieto grows as Errealas' main driver, building a powerful offense along with Antoine Griezmann and Raul Tamudo. Pablo Hernandez and Juan Mata will be responsible for leading Valencia's attack from the wings, looking forward to overwhelm Real Sociedad thanks to their superior speed.
Txuri-urdin followers should face this game as an early final, as their goal in the tournament will surely change depending on the outcome of this clash. Valencia must not follow Sevilla's example and return home with the full scoring, will they make it?
Real Sociedad vs Valencia Match Report
Martin Lasarte's Errealas could not survive Valencia's visit to Anoeta and were left perhaps too far behind in the fight for the European qualification. Xabi Prieto opened the score for the hosts with a penalty shot in the 23rd minute of the game.
Tino Costa found the leveller in the last minute of the first half and Aritz Aduriz gave the visitors the full scoring in the very last minute of the game, taking advantage of Chilean international goalkeeper Claudio Bravo's mistake.
Valencia's goalkeeper Cesar played a major role in the outcome of the game, denying Joseba Llorente's every attempt to beat his goal. The hosts dominated the game but as the first half was ending, Tino Costa's power shot from a free kick caught Bravo off guard.
Emery replaced Cesar for Vicente Guaita for the second half, but the substitute goalkeeper had little work to do as the game froze by the equalizer. Eventually Aduriz was given a golden shot to secure the game and he didn't hesitate. Valencia leapfrogs Espanyol and finish the year once again in the last Champions League's place.
