SC Freiburg vs VfB Stuttgart Match Preview

Not too many supporters will be surprised if Stuttgart loses to Freiburg. Having said that, Freiburg has collected three points and that too came against Nuremberg. Stuttgart’s new sporting director and old boy Fredi Bobic is asking the likes of new signing Christian Gentner and new keeper Sven Ulreich to step up and finally start getting some points on the board.

Stuttgart is a mysterious team; nobody ever quite expects them to win but they end up doing it and surprising everyone just like in 2007 when they won the league. Stuttgart tends to have these tendencies to fall after a good season. The team has been poor in all the matches so far. Also, Stuttgart almost missed out on a Europa League berth after playing a few nervy qualifiers.

Freiburg has only one aim: survival. The team seems to be incapable of a top-ten finish. Stuttgart can finish anywhere: either in a relegation spot or a Europa League spot. The club has brought in the experienced Mauro Camoranesi from Juventus and will hope that the Italian can steady the ship in midfield.

SC Freiburg vs VfB Stuttgart Match Report

Stuttgart’s miserable start to the season continued when they were beaten by a relegation favourite, Freiburg, 2-1. The first goal was scored by Pavel Pogrebnyak. He headed in a Cacau cross from the left wing.

Papiss Demba Cisse equalized by tapping in a cross from midfield. Julian Schuster won the game for Freiburg with an incredible long distance effort.

The best time for Stuttgart to solve their problems is now- the Europa League get underway this week and Stuttgart has to perform at a higher level than this. Stuttgart sits
