Borussia M'gladbach vs Eintracht Frankfurt Match Preview

Gladbach is really looking very good in the league thus far. Despite the fact that they have collected four from a maximum six points, they have been putting in entertaining displays. The Leverkusen players were perhaps feeling slightly lost in their own stadium in the second match-day but who can blame them? Gladbach put six past them and Leverkusen could only half the deficit.

Frankfurt, meanwhile has started off poorly. They are yet to collect a point this season from any of their matches. Frankfurt will be very disappointed due to their loss against Hamburg after having taken a 1-0 lead. Gladbach’s young team looks energetic; also, their newest signing Mohamadou Idrissou has impressed. Gladbach could turn a few heads this season with their displays.

Frankfurt, due to their poor form will perhaps be satisfied with a point while Gladbach will try to get all three.

Borussia M'gladbach vs Eintracht Frankfurt Match Report

Frankfurt took the lead when Theofanis Gekas met a ball from midfield with his head. Gekas’ header was punched by Logan Bailly and fell to Benjamin Koehler who scored. A Gladbach equalizer was ruled out by the referee apparently for a foul on Oka Nikolov, the Frankfurt keeper.

Alexander Meier was through in on goal and Bailly came out to prevent a second a while later. Unfortunately, he only succeeded in leaving an open net behind him as Meier passed to Theofanis Gekas who doubled the lead. Mohammadou Idrissou was elbowed in the Frankfurt box when through on goal but the referee did not award Gladbach a penalty.

Gladbach had their chances but failed to capitalize. Oka Nikolov fisted a Juan Arango shot at one point and despite the presence of two Gladbach players in the box, nobody capitalized. Arango missed a one-one-one with Nikolov moments later.

Patrick Ochs shrugged off two Gladbach defenders and chipped the ball over Bailly’s head to give his side a three goal lead. After Meier and Idrissou missed two glorious opportunities on opposite sides of the field, Theofanis Gekas scored Frankfurt’s fourth and finished the game.

Gladbach went in search for a consolation but Idrissou was thwarted by Nikolov. Frankfurt earned their first win of the season by handing Gladbach their first loss.
