Borussia Dortmund vs VfL Wolfsburg Match Report
Steve Mclaren might find himself out of Dortmund before he learns his German properly if his team continues to lose games at this pace. Lucas Barrios missed not one, but two headers from good crosses to start off with while Edin Dzeko hit the post from a long range shot on the other side. The first cross for Barrios came from young German left-back Marcel Schmelzer.
The goals came in the second half. The first was a wonder strike from outside the box by Turkish international Nuri Sahin. The second came close to the 70th minute from Shinji Kagawa. A Kevin Grosskreutz through ball was picked up intelligently and buried into the back of the net past Jaroslav Drobny. Despite being 2-0 up, Dortmund tried to score a third and they would have done so had Patrick Owomoyela’s shot not deflected off the post.
The problems are mounting for Wolfsburg while Dortmund now has six points from three games.
