Toluca vs San Luis Match Preview
The defending champions will attempt to perk up their playoff chances by taking on group leader San Luis in a six-pointer.
Jaime Correa and Ignacio Torres will be absent for a San Luis team that dropped a controversial decision to America on Thursday after the match official disallowed two goals -- one of them apparently legitimate.
Toluca are coming off a 0-0 draw on the road at Guadalajara, in a match that provoked few emotions for fans of either side. They will have to play without Argentine Diego Novaretti, an important part of their defense who is out to injury.
A win for either team will assure that they are on top of the other one within the group table. Should Toluca take the three points, they will have to wait and see what America does to find out if they will hold first place within the group all three teams share.
Toluca vs San Luis Match Report
Toluca and San Luis sparred for Group II dominance in the Nemesio Diez, with the visitors coming out on top and damaging the defending champions' hopes of looking for back-to-back titles.
Goals from Michael Arroyo in the third and fifty third minutes gave San Luis the victory, as Toluca were only able to muster a response via Antonio Naelson's free kick in the 69th minute of the game.
The loss dropped Toluca to eighth in the standings, hanging on to the playoffs with a two-point advantage over its nearest competition, and pushed them to third within the group, behind San Luis and America.
The Gladiators are coasting towards the postseason, sitting fourth in the league.
