Jaguares vs Morelia Match Preview
The red-hot Jaguars take a stroll through the jungle as they host sliding Morelia this Wednesday evening in Chiapas.
After a putrid start to the season, Jaguares are in playoff position after a roll that has seen them win five of their last seven, with heroic exploits week in and week out from strikers Danilinho, Carlos Ochoa and Jackson Martinez.
Primed to continue their fantastic form, they take on a Morelia team which has been unable to find their stride of late, their last win coming against Chivas on October 3.
Jaguares' seventh place can fluctuate three steps on each side with a win or a loss, in fact, Morelia can even jump them with a two-goal win.
Jaguares vs Morelia Match Report
Jackson Martinez threw away a golden opportunity to steal three points out of an otherwise stale match when he missed a penalty kick in the 82nd minute of the Jaguares-Morelia contest.
The Colombian striker wasted the chance created by Fernando Salazar's foul of Marvin Cabrera inside the box. Despite creating several more chances than their timid opposition, the jungle dwellers were not able to best the Monarchs, as they were denied time and time again by Argentine goalkeeper Federico Vilar.
After Martinez's miss, Oscar Razo had another opportunity to open up the scoreline, but a fantastic Vilar save kept the match at 0-0 and sent both sets of fans home grumbling.
The silver lining for both squads is the fact that their playoff hopes remain alive -- Jaguares is eighth overall with 20 points, while Morelia is just three points out of a playoff spot, sitting tenth in the table.
