Jackson Martinez threw away a golden opportunity to steal three points out of an otherwise stale match when he missed a penalty kick in the 82nd minute of the Jaguares-Morelia contest.The Colombian striker wasted the chance created by Fernando Salazar's foul of Marvin Cabrera inside the box. Despite creating several more chances than their timid opposition, the jungle dwellers were not able to best the Monarchs, as they were denied time and time again by Argentine goalkeeper Federico Vilar.
After Martinez's miss, Oscar Razo had another opportunity to open up the scoreline, but a fantastic Vilar save kept the match at 0-0 and sent both sets of fans home grumbling.
The silver lining for both squads is the fact that their playoff hopes remain alive -- Jaguares is eighth overall with 20 points, while Morelia is just three points out of a playoff spot, sitting tenth in the table.
