Pachuca vs Pumas UNAM Match Preview
The good news for Pablo Marini's Pachuca is that they've rebounded from a horrendous start, winning their last two matches; the bad news is that such a turnaround might be too little, too late as far as the postseason is concerned.
With seven matches remaining in the season, the Tuzos are long shots to make the Liguilla. And although their remaining schedule is manageable (none of the teams they have yet to face are currently in the top five of the table), they must prove their recent form is no accident.
Meanwhile, Pumas also appear to stabilize themselves after a rocky start - they have not lost a match since September 12th against San Luis. Sitting seventh in the table, a win at the Estadio Hidalgo would do wonders for their postseason hopes.
Pachuca vs Pumas UNAM Match Report
Pachuca seem to have found their stride under replacement manager Pablo Marini these past few weeks, and surely Pumas will attest to that after suffering a 3-2 defeat to the Tuzos last Saturday.
A Dario Cvitanich brace and a nice goal from Mexico U-20 prospect Victor Mañon were enough to turn the tables on UNAM, who led 1-0 early.
With a few minutes remaining, Juan Carlos Cacho made it interesting by drawing his team closer to 3-2, but Pachuca goalkeeper Miguel Calero denied Cacho later on to preserve the victory.
