Vitória vs Corinthians Match Preview
This is a must win clash for both teams. Vitoria hover precariously two points above the drop zone so there’s no room for error. Corinthians, on the other hand, have the same points problem but at the other end of the table.Only one place above the drop zone Vitoria will be up against a Corinthians side desperate for a win to further their championship challenge. Coach Antonio Lopes should have Wallace back in defense. William, captain of current league leaders Corinthians, has said that he will finish at the end of the current season in Serie A.
He’s on two yellow cards and while he won’t duck out of a tackle he also doesn’t want to miss any of the final games due to suspension. Elias and Juselei have returned from international duty in midweek and are expected to play.

League leaders Corinthians needed the three points here. They didn’t get them. Relegation threatened Vitoria, on home soil, needed the three points also. They didn’t get them either.Danilo opened the scoring for Corinthians in the first half with a goal on the 20 minute mark. He received the ball from Roberto Carlos, played a one-two with Ronaldo and placed the ball into the upper right hand corner of Vitoria’s goal past keeper Viafara.
Vitoria were making a fight of it and deservedly drew level after 43 minutes when referee Carlos Eugenio Simon judged that Ralf had handled the ball in the area. It was a clear penalty despite the inevitable protests.
Goalkeeper Viafara strolled up field and took the penalty himself sending a shot down the middle past his opposite number Julio Cesar to level the score 1-1. In the second half both teams looked for the winner but Vitoria were able to cope with the Corinthians’ goal threats and a draw was a fair result.
