FC Dallas defeated the Chicago Fire 3-0 at Pizza Hut Park. The win booked the home side’s passage to the playoffs, while Chicago are still in the running to confirm their place.

Dallas played aggressively throughout the match. Milton Rodriguez blasted a shot past Sean Johnson in the 19th minute. Marvin Chavez scored when his shot deflected off a defender and bounced into goal in the 46th minute. Striker Jeff Cunningham tied the MLS record of 132 career goals, after converting a penalty in the 67th minute.

Substitute forward Brian McBride fired wide of the target late in the game, missing Chicago’s best chance on goal. The Fire failed to close down their opponents and gave them too much room to operate. The result gave Dallas fans plenty to celebrate.
