The visiting Houston Dynamo scored first, with a goal from defender Andrew Hainault in the 11th minute. Houston missed a chance to double their lead in the 23rd minute with a shot from Brian Ching.
The home side drew level after Sebastien Le Toux skilfully brought down a cross from Roger Torres with his left foot, then struck the ball deftly with his right foot to beat Pat keeper Onstad. The second half proved uneventful, with both sides missing chances to beat their opponents.
