The visiting Houston Dynamo scored first, with a goal from defender Andrew Hainault in the 11th minute. Houston missed a chance to double their lead in the 23rd minute with a shot from Brian Ching.
The home side drew level after Sebastien Le Toux skilfully brought down a cross from Roger Torres with his left foot, then struck the ball deftly with his right foot to beat Pat keeper Onstad.
