San Jose Earthquakes vs FC Dallas Match Report
San Jose and FC Dallas both remained in the playoff spots courtesy of a scoreless tie in California. The draw extended the unbeaten run of FC Dallas to 14 games.
The Earthquakes went close in the 4th minute when new designated player Geovanni drilled a free kick just past the post. Four minutes later San Jose went close again, this time under unusual circumstances. Jair Benitez attempted a defensive header that looped up and almost beat his own goalkeeper, with some San Jose players claiming it in fact crossed the line before Kevin Hartman dealt with it.
FC Dallas had a chance to score in the 58th minute, Jeff Cunningham got in behind and crossed to Atiba Harris, who could only bundle the ball wide.
Brazilian Geovanni almost created a winner in the 86th minute, when his delicate chipped pass over the defense was volleyed wide by Eduardo.
