West Bromwich Albion vs Aston Villa Match Preview
Local rivals West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa will meet in a Midlands derby at the Hawthorns on Saturday.West Brom are currently six points above the drop zone after last weekend’s 2-2 draw at Tottenham Hotspur. Villa are one point further ahead and are unbeaten in their last four games.
Goalkeeper Scott Carson will return for West Brom, while captain Chris Brunt is doubtful with a hamstring problem. Steven Reid and Jerome Thomas are both ruled out with injury for the Baggies.
Assistant manager Gary McAllister will remain in charge for West Brom while Gerard Houllier recuperates from a heart problem. McAllister has no new injury concerns and could name an unchanged lineup for the third straight match.
