Vélez Sársfield vs Chacarita Juniors Match Preview
Chacarita's heart is already broken and there's nothing the Funebreros can do to retain the category; Nonetheless Velez' Libertadores wounds are still open and Chacarita will be looking forward to bring Ricardo Gareca join them on the lower half of the positions table. This will be the second consecutive challenging match for Chaca, for last week the team was almost able to stop the leader of the tournament, but Estudiantes' individual capabilities outplayed Luis Marabotto's team during the last minutes, sinking the team even lower in the positions table with 13 points. Chacarita's defense has shown many weaknesses during the tournament, receiving 27 goals in 17 matches, and some defensive modifications will have to take place to take on one of the strongest teams in the Primera Division. Considering Racing will be visiting the Funebreros for the last week a victory will be mandatory not to finish the season standing at the bottom end. Lisandro Lopez's suspension (he received a red card against the Pincha) Diego Crosa will have once again the responsibility of securing his area against Fortin's blows. Emanuel Centurion and Cristian Grabinsky are both struggling with injuries; will Luís Marabotto be able to claim at least one point in this trip to Liniers?
Even though Velez was able to obtain a solid victory home for the Libertadores, a bad Mexican experience doomed Ricardo Gareca and his players to give up their dream for America's most challenging cup. Having focused so thoroughly on the Libertadores, the Argentinean League has been a test lab for Velez, where the young players could show their finesse and claim a place within the starting squad; but the lack of experience of these players offered team's followers nothing more than four points in the last six matches, and these figures would have been significantly lower if it wasn't for Rolando Zarate, second striker of the team who might be relegating its place to the Uruguayan committee; Santiago Silva and Hernan Rodrigo Lopez. The last place for next year's Copa Sudamericana will only be obtained if the full scoring is claimed in these last two matches, for Lanus and Colon are fighting to take it off Gareca's hands. Against Chacarita it is expected to see Velez rediscover itself, will they be able to bring joy to their followers at the Jose Amalfitani?
