Independiente vs San Lorenzo Match Preview
Having lost its streak of seven weeks undefeated, now Independiente's wings have been cut and the quest for the title will become more intense, as Argentinos and Godoy Cruz are creeping from a short distance and eager to taste the peak once again. The long list of injuries in Tolo Gallego's team has been one of their main problems during the last weeks, and the two red cards received against Arsenal were decisive for last week's stop at the Enchanted Forest. Luckily Omar Asad's Tomba were unable to exploit this opportunity to join the Rojos at the first position, and considering San Lorenzo is going through a strong footbalistic crisis this Saturday match might be a chance for the Devils to redeem their souls against their followers at their own home. Provided Cristian Gabbarini recovers its last week's level, it seems the Diablos will have a feast to keep themselves entertained.
The Cuervos are starving at the bottom of the positions table, and thanks to last week's defeat Diego Simeone has finally left its place as team's manager, for this young coach has not been able to obtain a single point in the last three weeks. San Lorenzo has scored only seven goals in the tournament (an average of almost 0.5 per game) while receiving 13. Team's new Coach Sebastian Mendez will have to deal with many surprises; Diego Rivero will be sidelined for the rest of this season, while Juan Carlos Menseguez is almost fully recovered from its injuries. A change in formation (4-4-2, a classic for the Cuervos) will be mandatory to make the most of this change of perspective, with Cristian Leiva and Juan Manuel Torres standing as pillars on the midfield and sending Pablo Pintos to the bands. It is yet to see whether Leandro Romagnoli will make it within the starting eleven, as he's never fully recovered from an injury in its right knee. Another defeat can bury San Lorenzo at the bottom, a place they're not used to stand in.
