Houston Dynamo vs Chivas USA Match Preview
Last week the Dynamo lost to the Galaxy 2-0 at home. While the fact that the Galaxy are the hottest team in the league may serve as some consolation to Dynamo coach Dominic Kinnear, he won’t be encouraged that the Dynamo did not manage a single shot-on-goal against the Galaxy.
The Dynamo clearly missed the presence of forward Brian Ching and they will be without Ching for another five-to-six weeks. Designated player Luis “doughboy” Landin needs to use more of his 350-pound frame to physically dominate smaller players in defense. He has been an enormous bust for Houston since his arrival late last year and it's time for him to score some goals or head back to Mexico.
Chivas entered last week's game against the New York Red Bulls having lost their first two games. The Red Bulls came into the matchup having won their first two games. So, of course, Chivas went out and beat the Red Bulls 2-0. It may not have been the most exciting matchup to watch, with each team managing just one shot-on-goal, but Chivas will be happy with their first points of the year.
Chivas is still a team with much to prove on offense and I don’t think they are going to do it this week. Chivas will probably look to forwards Chukwudi Chijindu and Maicon Santos to find a way through the Houston defense this week. I give this to Houston 2-1.
