Burnley vs Blackburn Rovers Match Preview
Burnley have six losses and a draw in their last seven matches. It’s not the kind of record that makes for good reading and the Clarets are looking increasingly likely to descend into the Championship at season’s end.
Only Hull and Portsmouth sit lower in the league.
Last time out Blackburn beat Burnley 3-2 at Ewood Park. Burnley manager Brian Laws has just one win in his time since he took over for the departing Owen Coyle in January but the club, despite speculation to the contrary, deny they are looking for a replacement.
Burnley go into the weekend with injury doubts over Chris McCann and Steven Caldwell.
Blackburn ruined Chelsea’s weekend (and maybe their season) when they came from behind and grabbed a point in their 1-1 draw with the Blues at Stamford Bridge last Sunday.
Youngster Phil Jones, 18 years of age and making his Premier League debut, was outstanding in defense despite the efforts of Chelsea’s mighty strike partners Didier Drogba and Nicholas Anelka.
It was a good few days for Blackburn because their draw with Chelsea was followed on Wednesday by a 2-1 victory over Birmingham City at Ewood Park.
Manager Sam Allardyce and his men cannot but help to be a little confident in their chances against struggling Burnley. Yet this is a derby match and because of that anything can happen.
Bad news for Blackburn though. Goalkeeper Paul Robinson is out for a month with a torn calf muscle.
