Macaé vs Flamengo Match Preview
Full of enthusiasm after a 2-0 victory over Universidad from Chile for Copa Libertadores this week in the historic stadium of Maracana, Flamengo now aims its attention to Rio Cup the second state tournament of the year to play against Macae for the first matchday. Known as the “Empire of Love” due to their combined last name and nickname, international strikers Wagner Love and “Emperor” Adriano, will have the chance to keep on giving the fans happiness as the powerful offense that Flamengo has conformed this year to participate in local and international competitions grows stronger and gains respect from all the teams, specially from Macae that will have a tough one trying to stop Flamengo.
Flamengo´s defender Alvaro who was sent off in the game vs Fluminense in January 31st was supposed to get a three game suspension, however his case was analyzed by the sports court and he was suspended only for one game that he already did, so he is now back to play this weekend. Seems like Alvaro´s situation in the club is complicated as in Flamengo´s last game for Copa Libertadores, he was involved in a brave discussion with coach Andrade because he denied to follow the instructions from him, however the club has decided to give him a chance to continue in the club since he doesn´t have a bad historic behavior in the past. Defender Leo Moura said that he sees a very strong team to deal with both tournaments at the same time and he is confident that they will be champions in the second round.
He also mentioned that Adriano and Kleberson who both joined the Brazilian national team will have good substitutes in the game against Macae.
On the other side, Macae has incorporated to the squad 5 players, defenders Thiago Coutinho. Rodrigao, Fernandinho, midfielder Cléber Oliveira and striker Bruno Luiz.
