Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Burnley Match Preview
Easily beaten 3-0 at Old Trafford midweek Wolverhampton’s manager Mick McCarthy faces angry denunciations from the Wolves supporters for fielding what they see as a reserve team against the mighty Manchester United. The EPL is also asking questions. Claiming his top players needed rest the manager made 10 changes from last weekend\'s starting team and appears to have been hedging his bets in preparation for Burnley, against whom Wolves have a more reasonable expectation of getting a result that might ultimately stave off relegation. A good managerial decision? Only time will tell. He is likely to remain unpopular for a while but McCarthy will undoubtedly view three points against the Clarets on Sunday as some reward at least for the criticism he is facing.
A fighting draw against Arsenal on Wednesday showed that Burnley is capable of putting up a fight. Aging mid-fielder Graham Alexander is defying Father Time and it was his spot kick that got the equalizer against the Gunners on Wednesday. If they can replicate the form they showed against Arsenal the Clarets are likely to cause difficulties, even for a now famously well-rested Wolves first team.
