Liverpool's new-boy has explained how his former teammate's words facilitated his decision to sign for the club.

On Thursday, Liverpool officially unveiled the club's newest signing Alisson Becker after he completed his medical at the Melwood Training facility. The Reds paid a staggering 67 million pounds for the service of the Brazilian, making him the most expensive goalkeeper in the world at the moment.

Speaking in his first interview with the Merseysiders, Alisson was full of delight for making the move to join the Premier League outfit.

"I'm really happy, it's a dream come true to wear such a prestigious shirt for a club of this size that is used to always winning.

"In terms of my life and my career, it's a huge step for me being part of this club and this family. You can be certain that I'll give my all.

He then went a step further to explain how his former teammate Mohamed Salah texted him to inquire about and encouraged him to sign for the club as soon as possible.

"We didn't have that much contact after he left Roma," Alisson said via Liverpool's official website.

"We met again in the game when we were up against each other [in the Champions League in April].

"Yesterday, he sent me a message saying: 'Hey, what are you waiting for?' As the negotiations were at an advanced stage, I replied to him straight away saying: 'Calm down, I'm on my way!'

"I'm really happy to have the opportunity to play alongside him again. As well as being a great player, he is a huge character and a great person - which is the most important thing.

"To be with these great people and players day to day is fantastic for me."

Both Alisson and Salah played for together for the Giallorossi in the 2016/2017 season before the later took the Premier League by storm after joining last season.
