Los Blancos' search for Zidane's replacement now has them looking at a man who was initially not under consideration.

Real Madrid is one of the biggest clubs in the world, but finding their ideal manager is proving difficult for Los Blancos. A number of candidates had been shortlisted shortly after Zidane’s shock departure but they have all appeared to have hit a dead end.

Contact was made with Mauricio Pochettino but it is believed the Tottenham boss turned down the job. Massimiliano Allegri is another man who was offered the job, which comes as little surprise since he is regarded as one of the best tacticians in Europe right now.

Unfortunately, the Champions League holder hasn’t received the answer they were hoping for. As written by the Daily Mail, the Italian boss has exhibited reluctance over moving to the Bernabeu and it has thus been reported that he too has snubbed the offer.

As a result, Florentino Perez’s side is now looking elsewhere. One man who is emerging as a key target who had not initially been a favorite is Antonio Conte.

His falling out with Chelsea over his lack of power in the transfer market made him an outside candidate. Zinedine is rumored to have left Real Madrid for that same reason and thus the club’s hierarchy did not desire a similar conundrum with Conte but he is proving to be the best available manager.

Arsene Wenger, Guti, Michel and Michael Laudrup are other available options, but the Blancos board they pale in comparison to the outgoing Blues boss’ recent proven track record. The Madrid giant’s favorite choices, Pochettino and Klopp, are both tied by lengthy contracts to their current employers.

As a result, Antonio’s pathway to the Spanish capital appears to be clear. If he ends up taking the job, it will be interesting to see how he handles Perez’s interference in the squad.
