A deserved draw for Huddersfield against Chelsea has put the Swans in an uncomfortable situation but the battle isn’t over yet.

Having lost against fellow relegation battlers Southampton on Tuesday, Swansea required Chelsea to do them a favor by getting the win against Huddersfield. However, the plan did not go according to the script as the Blues were held at the Stamford Bridge by the bullish Terriers.

This, as a result, consolidated David Wagner’s side’s stay in the league for another season with a point accumulation of 37 and a game to spare. At the moment, the only way for Swansea to escape relegation will be for them to win by at least a six-goal margin against the relegated Stoke City.

But, they will also have to hope that Southampton loses by a huge scoreline (at least a goal differential of six or more should Swansea fall short in scoring) against Manchester City in the last matchday. With the Citizen looking to extend their record of scoring the most goals in a single season, anything is certainly possible.

The result of Wednesday’s encounter also put Chelsea’s chances of securing a Champions League spot in limbo considering they needed to win all their last two games to stand a chance. With Tottenham Hotspur cementing their top four finish with a win over Newcastle on Wednesday, Antonio Conte’s men will now wish for Liverpool to be defeated by Brighton at home in their last game while they seek for a favorable result at the Saint James' Park.
