Manchester City's all-time top scorer could leave the club next summer after several rumors concerning his relationship with Pep Guardiola.

Sergio Aguëro's fall from grace at Manchester City could force him to search for other employment opportunities, with one of them coming from Barcelona.

According to an interview given by the player's father, Leonel Del Castillo, a possible switch to the Blaugrana side came up due to Agüero's possible departure from the recently crowned Premier League champions.

The rumor emerged due to Agüero's excellent relationship with Lionel Messi. These players have bonded while on international duty with Argentina, and the thought of paring them up with a club has crossed each players' mind. Unfortunately for the Argentinean league fans, their "partnership" in a club would need to happen in Europe, as Agüero has pledged loyalty to Independiente and Messi is a die hard Newells fan.

Agüero's father discussed this scenario in an interview with Argentinean outlet Olé.

"It's possible, next year many players change club," Del Castillo stated.

Considering Agüero's age (he turns 30 in June), the player's stint at Barcelona would be short, especially since he's always stated that he will return to his boyhood club to retire.

"Whenever I ask him, Sergio tells me that he will return to Independiente but he does not know when," the player's father added.

"El Kun" is under contract at Manchester City until 2020, and his chances of earning one last big payday are closely linked to a good performance in the upcoming World Cup. Given the amount of games he's missed with the Citizens this year due to Guardiola's wishes, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the EPL champions getting rid of their all-time top scorer. The only issue with a potential move to Catalunya is what kind of role he would play for Ernesto Valverde's side.
