The Spanish goalkeeper was sent to the bench by Porto's boss, Sergio Conceicao, and will most likely join the North American league.

Iker Casillas tumultuous stint at Porto will come to an end this winter, as the goalkeeper is not happy with his current situation with the Portuguese top flight leaders.

Casillas fell down Sergio Conceicao's pecking order since September, with goalkeeper José Sá becoming his No.1 goalkeeper. With that in mind, Casillas' agent has started scouting for options, with a move to the MLS being the best alternative for the former international, according to Marca. Apparently, the Chicago Fire would be the keeper's next club.

Despite negotiations being allegedly underway, there are two clubs that could prevent Casillas' move to North America. Newcastle United and Deportivo La Coruña are keen on signing the player born in Mostoles, but Casillas seems to be keen on moving to the U.S.. He recently congratulated Toronto FC for winning the 2017 MLS title, which sparked comments about how closely he is following the North American league.

The 36-year old's future might be solved in the next couple of weeks, taking under consideration the winter break in the Portuguese league starting next week.
