The hosts come into this game having earned a hard-fought 2-0 win over Sunderland to further consolidate a top four spot. After a rough patch, Manchester City appear to have turned a corner. They have one foot in the quarter-finals after turning things around to beat Monaco 5-3 in arguably the most entertaining game so far in the Champions League round of 16. All in all, Pep Guardiola's troops are unbeaten in their last nine games across all competitions and they appear to be finally playing some attractive football as well.
Manchester City have won three out of their last four games against Stoke, whilst scoring a quartet of goals in those wins. The last time they lost to their upcoming opponents was in August 2014, when a solitary effort from the Potters was enough to decide the contest. Although the team have a busy week ahead - they will take on Middlesbrough in the FA Cup before traveling to lock horns with Monaco - Guardiola is not expected to rotate his squad much for this clash, and quite a few players who featured in the win over Sunderland will be in the starting XI.
Stoke City
Stoke currently find themselves in the top half of the table, and with 35 points, the Potters are pretty comfortable. However, their away form has been quite poor. Mark Hughes's side have lost five out of their last six road fixtures (albeit those games were against Tottenham, Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal). They have also conceded four versus Spurs, the Blues, the Reds, and three against the Gunners, and given that all of those sides are in the top five, things don't look good for them ahead of their trip to the Etihad stadium.
Hughes may also have to ring the changes due to an injury to defender Glen Johnson during the team's 2-0 win over Middlesbrough, but Xherdan Shaqiri could make a cameo appearance after missing nearly a month due to injury and fitness problems.
