Footage by a Spanish TV network shows that Atlético's striker didn't trust his team-mate to score the decisive spot kick.

Spanish fans believed that they had the best players available to take penalties against Russia, but it seems like Diego Costa didn't.

Spanish TV network Deportes Cuatro caught the moments prior to the penalty shootout, with Gerard Piqué, Sergio Ramos and coach Fernando Hierro deciding which players were going to take the crucial spot kicks.

As Hierro told Koke he would take the third one, he immediately asked for Diego Costa's thoughts on the matter, and the striker gave his coach a nod full of doubt, as he took his hand to his mouth to share his views on the matter.

Once Koke's shot was saved by Igor Akinfeev, Costa tried to make eye contact with Hierro, and once the coach looked at Costa, he said the following words: "I told you so".
