Coach José Pekerman spoke in detail about the status of his best player following their 1-0 win over Senegal.

Earlier today, we shared with you details about how James Rodriguez left the pitch after just 31 minutes. Following the end of that game, coach José Pekerman added a few more details on his star's fitness levels, and he didn't share good news for Colombian fans.

James Rodriguez has struggled to find his fitness for the entire tournament. He even started Colombia's opening game on the bench, and even with all those issues in mind, Pekerman did not see any signs about his ace coming down with another muscular injury prior to today.

"All I can say is that I'm really worried. This is really hard on the team. He trained normally yesterday, and he even stayed for a few more minutes practicing penalties and free kicks. He was fit prior to the game, that's all I can say at the moment," Pekerman stated.

Rodríguez tried to carry on playing, but he ended up asking to be subbed off after 31 minutes.

Regardless of his initial words, Pekerman trusts that Rodríguez will be fit to face England in their Round of 16 matchup, which is scheduled for next Tuesday.

"We'll have to wait for those results. Let's hope there's good news for us. I can't confirm if he will be fit or not, but after a proper resting period we will be able to determine his availability," Pekerman said with a worried look on his face.

Colombia beat Senegal during their last match in Group H, claiming the top spot, but their star's absence could represent a massive blow for the Colombian side.
