Alvaro Morata finally got on the scoresheet!

It’s been a tough start to life for the player who was tipped for bigger things upon moving to England before things got busier this season. The former Real Madrid man showed promising signs in the early days following his transfer to the Blues but fell off the rails before the turn of the year.

Morata's inefficiency subsequently led Antonio Conte to demote him to the bench, while only being used sparingly by the Italian manager. Having been handed a rare starting berth in Chelsea FA Cup quarter-final match-up with Leicester, the forward repaid his manager’s faith in him by breaking the deadlock on the 42nd minute – his first-ever goal across all competitions in 2018.

Prior to scoring, the 25-year-old striker had featured in 12 games in all competitions in the new year alone but had failed to register a single goal. His last goal for Chelsea was seen in his side’s 2-0 victory over Brighton and Hove Albion on Boxing Day last year.

At the moment, Morata’s goal tally since joining Chelsea stands at 13 in 39 appearances. In a side scene, the Spanish forward's exploits did not necessarily make him immune to trolling as fans came out in their numbers to share their "too candid" opinions on Morata's hairdo upon hearing that he's finally scored.
