Criticism was hard for Real Madrid players to deal with this season, and today, Sergio Ramos addressed the subject prior to Los Blancos' last game of the season.
Speaking as team captain, the Spaniard aimed a dig at those critics that focused more on the teams that Real Madrid eliminated en route to a third straight UEFA Champions League final, rather than giving their job some recognition.
"We felt snubbed. But in the end, when you guys talk more about the opponent, it only adds more value to our victories. We have eliminated each league's champions, and now we have to finish the job. We try to stay away from all comments, both rooting for us or against us. We know what this team stands for and what our goals are. We enter this match with a clear conscience," Ramos stated.
According to Ramos, the secret behind their success will be fueled by their ability to forget about what they did in the last two finals.
"I like to think that Saturday's match will be the first one. We don't look back and reflect on what happened before. We have to take this opportunity and make it count, and if possible, enjoy ourselves while playing it," the captain added.
Before the press conference concluded, Ramos had a cheeky message for Mohamed Salah, who some have compared to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
"Cris and Messi play in a different orbit, and there are players that are a thing right now, but in the end can't match what they do. Salah is a great player and he's shown it. I wish him all the best...but from the day after tomorrow," Ramos
