Monday’s clash between Wigan and Man City in the FA Cup was an exciting game, but things quickly turned ugly after the final whistle. Firstly, Pep Guardiola was involved in an altercation with the opposing manager at half-time in the tunnel after seeing Fabian Delph get sent off. Then there was the incident involving Sergio Aguero.
The Argentine was at the center of a bust-up with a fan when Wigan supporters invaded the pitch after their remarkable 1-0 win over the Citizens. After being hit on the back of head and presumably taunted while leaving, he lashed out and hit one confrontational pitch invader.
The South American striker had to be restrained and pulled away by City assistant manager Mikel Arteta and Wigan defender Chey Dunkley. This incident thus sparked a huge debate on social media.
Fans, journalists, and pundits alike weighed in with their opinions on whether Kun should be banned for his action. Many brought up previous altercations between players and fans which resulted in suspensions, arguing that Aguero should be treated similarly.
Others felt that the 29-year-old had the right to defend himself from the pitch invader, as he appeared to be a targeting the former Atletico forward. One journalist even claimed that the Argentine was spat at, leading to his outburst.
A Wigan fan spat Agüero and he only defends himself of a probable knock. Something worst could happened at the pitch with that invasion.

Arsène Wenger got banned for 3 matches for calling Mike Dean a "Disgrace". Tonight, Aguero hit a fan and Pep was being aggressive to the referee and has a huge confrontation with Paul Cook in the tunnel. If Pep/Aguero escapes a ban then I'll know there is favouritism from the FA

Why wasn't Aguero Protected from being Attacked???
— Sasha (@Sasha_Carole) February 20, 2018
He's the one that should be on the pitch.
Wigan need to be charged.
Listen up @FA, this investigation better include Aguero punching a fan and Guardiola attacking coaching staff

Fans running in the pitch after a big win happens in the Fa Cup every year, doesn’t need investigating. pic.twitter.com/DQjxq7z3l9
No idea what Sergio Aguero has done wrong. Some muppet runs on the pitch and puts his hands on him, entitled to defend himself. #mcfc

Just seen the Aguero incident. Fans should not confront players but you can’t have players punching fans. He *should* receive a heavy punishment. He won’t.

Aguero will get punished for what happened after the game but I don’t think he should Aguero is defending himself why are the fans on the pitch? He doesn’t know what the fan has in his pockets or what he’s gonna do he just sees a fan coming toward him!?

Confected outrage over this. The punter is menacing Aguero, who pushes him away, as he’s entitled to. https://t.co/jOEslp77XY

Aguero punching a fan.... Expect at least an 8 month ban @fa

Slowed down + zoomed in version of Aguero incident (LQ).

Aguero swarmed, gets hit on head, Chey Dunkley notices + heads over. Bloke in green jacket walks directly up to Kun and gets right up in his face.
Reliable journo @10JoseAlvarez claims the fan spat in Aguero's face. #mcfc pic.twitter.com/TfxzquUlTl
Evra, Cantona abused by supporters but retaliated and banned. Might not see Aguero play many more games for #MCFC this season.

Looked like Aguero chinned a fan there. Am no a grass but that should be a 7 match ban and a goal headstart for Arsenal on Sunday @FA
— AFCAMDEN (@AFCAMDEN) February 19, 2018
Aguero fighting fans on the pitch. Pep fighting the referee & opposition manager. Bans please. @FA
— Sam (@samuelJayC) February 19, 2018
Aguero “punch” is a push. He also has every right to push away the individual who gets into his face (and should not be on the pitch) goading him at the end of a game he has lost.

Wigan, Man City, and Aguero are poised to be investigated by the FA over Monday’s shocking scenes. If punished, Sergio could miss out on the League Cup final against Arsenal on Sunday.
