The Foxes are yet to play the Reds in what will be their first game since sacking the Tinkerman.

Only seven games of the latest English Premier League round have been played, with one game – Leicester vs. Liverpool – set to take place on Monday. Due to the League Cup final, Man United and Southampton were unable to play, leading to two postponed league games.

There were wins for the top two clubs Chelsea and Tottenham, whilst a win for Everton saw them draw closer to the Red Devils. Here’s what we learned after the weekend.

Leicester shoot themselves in the foot in the middle of a relegation battle

Leicester have gone from Premier League champions to relegation battlers in just a few months. Nine months after winning their unforgettable title, the club are now in the hands of a caretaker.

It was the biggest news of last week: Claudio Ranieri’s sacking. Nine months after winning the title, the Italian was out of work after the Foxes decided on axing the Tinkerman.

Immediately after the announcement, condemnation from the club’s supporters, pundits, and fellow managers poured in. Fingers were pointed at the Leicester City players for the sacking, something Jamie Vardy denies.

There were talks of a rift at the King Power Stadium – some say between Ranieri and his players, others claim it to have been between the manager and his staff. Nonetheless, the decision has just left the club more split than ever.

Liverpool lose precious record ahead of Leicester trip

For one day, the Premier League took a backseat, as the League Cup final dominated the weekend conversation. Man United faced Southampton, with the eliminated teams picking sides between the two finalists.

Liverpool could be forgiven for backing the Saints – due to their heated rivalry with the Red Devils and the fact that the Reds’ precious record was on the line. Unfortunately for Klopp’s side, Ibrahimovic and Co. prevailed.

And now Liverpool’s record is gone: they are no longer England’s most successful club. That crown has been taken away by none other than Man United.

Tottenham show how to overcome a Europe exit hangover

Last week, Tottenham suffered another early exit in a European competition. The Spurs were kicked out of the Europa League, with Dele Alli being sent off in that fixture.

Fast forward to Sunday, and Spurs thrashed Stoke City 4-0 to strengthen their grip on second place. That’s how you overcome a European competition exit.
